Stephenson Park Health Group, Forest Hall branch, is seeking a full‑time Medical Receptionist / Administration Assistant.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform action tasks set by clinicians via the clinical system (SystmOne) and email.
- Ensure accurate data recording and enter patient information into the computer system.
- Manage the appointment system in accordance with practice policy.
- Respond to patient enquiries, explain procedures and arrange new and follow‑up appointments.
- Handle telephone calls, divert and take messages, ensuring accurate details and delivery through the computer system.
- Screen and record requests for home visits and refer to the on‑call doctor where appropriate.
- Scan, file and code correspondence and results promptly and correctly.
- Open premises at opening, deactivate the alarm, prepare for patients, and secure premises at closing, ensuring windows, lights and alarm are managed.
- Oversee the waiting area and inform patients of any delays to appointment times.
- Advise patients on relevant charges, accept payment and issue receipts.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the branch manager.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- English Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Proof of a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- A demonstrable commitment to professional development.
- Knowledge of and willingness to comply with the practice’s confidentiality, information governance and health & safety policies.
Experience
- Experience of telephone operation and handling patient calls.
- Experience with various IT software, particularly clinical administration systems.
- Experience working with the public/patients in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in a primary care or GP practice environment is desirable.
