Transform Communication. Change Lives. SMKT is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a therapist with a passion for supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working across our schools, you will play a vital role in helping students develop the communication, language, emotional regulation, and social interaction skills they need to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
- Assess, plan, and deliver high-quality speech and language therapy interventions.
- Support pupils with speech, language, communication, and social interaction needs.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies.
- Develop strategies to support emotional regulation, social communication, and positive engagement in learning.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews.
- Deliver staff training and provide specialist advice to enhance inclusive practice.
- Be an active member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the HCPC and RCSLT.
- Has experience working with children and young people.
- Has an interest in, or experience supporting, pupils with SEMH needs.
- Understands the relationship between communication difficulties, behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and learning.
- Is committed to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.
- Has excellent communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
