We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to cover maternity leave in our Landscape Architecture and Planning practice.

Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide essential accounts and office support across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Match, batch and process receipts for expenses and credit cards (bi‑weekly).
  • Manage the accounts inbox by assigning and responding to various external and internal requests.
  • Use imports to batch post expenses, credit cards, travel accounts and purchase ledger invoices using Sage 50.
  • Post subcontractor invoices to projects using Coretime.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and execute payment runs and enter onto the bank.
  • Provide holiday cover and support colleagues where required.
  • Ad‑hoc accounts and administrative duties, including adapting to the new ERP system during the maternity cover period.
  • Remain organised, solution‑focused, and engage proactively with new processes.
  • Approach system implementation pragmatically and calmly.

About You

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel.
  • Confident working in a busy, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Adaptable and comfortable managing change.
  • Professional, reliable and collaborative.
  • Accounts experience preferred; full training will be provided.

Working Pattern

  • Flexible working hours between 08:00 am and 18:00 pm.
  • Maternity cover 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
  • Hybrid working pattern: 3 days per week in our Kendal office, up to 2 days per week working from home.
  • Annual leave 25 days plus Bank Holidays.
