APPRENTICE MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNICIAN.

We are currently recruiting for an Apprentice Motor Vehicle Technician. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with one of the world’s most prestigious and technologically advanced car manufacturers.

YOUR ROLE.

As an Apprentice Motor Vehicle Technician at Hedin Automotive, you will be working in a busy BMW/MINI service workshop, where you will learn to complete routine service inspections and repairs to the high standards of the BMW/MINI brand.

The main duties of the role include

The course is unique to BMW with a special emphasis on electronics and cutting-edge technology; your training will include the opportunity to work on the latest:

  • Cars
  • Engines and BMW diagnostic equipment
  • Ultimately leading to the ability to undertake
  • Maintenance
  • Service
  • Repair activities on vehicles to the highest standards once fully qualified

During the time spent at Hedin Automotivea mentor will be allocated to oversee the work-based learning program. A BMW representative will also visit on a 12-week basis to set performance targets and ensure any development needs are being met.

YOUR PROFILE.

Successful applicants must demonstrate the following:

  • To have good manual dexterity
  • Full training will be provided
  • Keen interest and enthusiasm for automotive vehicles and the industry as a whole
  • Be honest and trustworthy with a willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and work ethic, with high level of professionalism
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team in a busy Worksop environment, as well as having the capability to follow instructions and work individually

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS.

Applicants are required to have, or predicted to obtain, GCSE Grade A*-C / 9-4 or Functional Skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in the following subjects:

  • English
  • Maths
  • ICT (or one other subject if candidate did not take ICT)
  • To be eligible to work in the UK before you apply,
  • Preferable hold a full UK driver’s license (this is due to the nature of the role)

PROSPECTS.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress to become a fully qualified motor vehicle service and maintenance technician.

Qualifications to be achieved:

  • Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Apprenticeship Level 3 Standard
  • IMI Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician
  • IMI Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigeration Handling
  • IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle
  • IMI Accreditation Service Maintenance Technician

THINGS TO CONSIDER.

The expected duration of the apprenticeship is 3 years.

Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the BMW Group Academy in Berkshire to complete their apprenticeship training

Training is completed in one-week blocks approximately once every two to three months. All training costs are covered by the BMW Retailer/Bodyshop (travel, accommodation, and food)

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that\’s part of their apprenticeship.

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage guide (ANMW): 21yrs and over is £11.44 ph, 18yrs to 20yrs is £8.60ph, under 18yrs is £6.40ph
