A well-established, not-for-profit elderly care provider is seeking a strong and credible Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a large care home delivering residential, nursing, and dementia care. This is a supernumerary Deputy Manager position, offering protected time to lead, influence culture, and drive standards within a complex and demanding service. The home has a large staff team and requires a confident leader who can manage challenges, set expectations, and bring stability.
The Role:
- Support the Home Manager with the operational and clinical leadership of a large, multi-disciplinary service
- Provide strong, visible leadership to a large and sometimes challenging staff group
- Drive quality, compliance, and best practice across residential, nursing, and dementia services
- Lead on audits, governance, risk management, and continuous improvement
- Act as a clear, confident communicator with staff, residents, families, and external professionals
- Take full responsibility for the home in the Home Manager’s absence
The Ideal Candidate:
- Currently a Deputy Manager or an experienced Senior Nurse / Clinical Lead
- Clinical background strongly preferred (RGN/RMN ideal, but not essential)
- 2–3 years’ experience in a Deputy Manager or equivalent senior role
- Proven ability to manage performance, challenge poor practice, and stabilise teams
- Resilient, authoritative leadership style with strong people-management skills
- Calm under pressure and confident working in a large, complex environment
The role offers a salary of £60,000 – £65,000 per annum and will suit a Deputy Manager who is robust, experienced, and comfortable leading in challenging environments, rather than someone still developing their leadership confidence.
