Stephen James Consulting continue to work with one of their established not-for-profit elderly care providers in the search for a Residential Home Manager for a newly commissioned residential care home based in North Leeds / West Yorkshire. This is a large, purpose-built residential care service, scheduled to open later this year, offering high-quality care for older adults aged 65 and above. This is a senior leadership opportunity to lead a significant commissioning project from the ground up, embedding strong governance, culture, and operational foundations from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing strong, visible leadership across all operational and care delivery aspects of the home
- Leading the full commissioning process, including recruitment, policies, governance frameworks, and readiness to open
- Managing, developing, and motivating a large multidisciplinary staff team to deliver consistently high standards of care
- Embedding a proactive, risk-aware approach to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements, including CQC
- Preparing the service for CQC registration and inspection
- Building effective relationships with commissioners, external professionals, and internal stakeholders
- Supporting occupancy growth and reputation building during the commissioning and early operational phase
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Registered Home Manager within residential or dementia care
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, governance, and inspection readiness
- Proven experience managing large teams and complex services
- Commissioning or start-up experience is highly beneficial
- A confident, resilient, hands-on leadership style
