Shifts include a mix of day and backshifts, with every second weekend off to support a healthy work-life balance. Plus enjoy our unique rota system: 3 days off one week and 2 days off the next, giving you time to recharge and focus on what matters most.
We offer a competitive salary of £24,588.20 to £26,171.60 (£13.51-£14.38 hourly rate) per year, based on a 35hrs FTE depending on skills & experience.

The Role:
As a Support Worker, you will work with vulnerable individuals to help them live their lives to the full. Your daily routine will be as varied as the needs of the people you are looking after. This will include being a mentor to specific people and leading on service projects which contribute to Company objectives. You will help and support people to build on their independent living skills to enable them to progress living independently in a mainstream tenancy.
Supports will vary and a person-centred approach should be adopted to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the people we support. You will often be the first to alert professionals with updates on support and will be required to liaise with a variety of professionals to ensure that the relevant support is provided. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important and key to achieving outcomes for the people we support.
Enhancing people's quality of life by providing support in their own home and in the community that will improve and enhance their life chances, their living environment, and their wellbeing, is at the forefront of this role.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for ensuring and promoting the safeguarding of any people that you may come into contact with.
- To provide support in line with Step Up's aims, objectives & values.
- To provide support in line with Step Up's policies and procedures.
- To comply with the Health & Social Care Standards and SSSC Codes of Practice.
- To work in line with individual personal support plans & risk assessments.
- Assist in devising, implementing, and reviewing personal support plans & risk assessments.
- To act as a mentor to specific people.
- Provide and participate in appropriate care & support planning, review and assessment whilst ensuring people are central to these processes.
- Promote a holistic, and integrated person-centred approach to persons supported needs.
- Support the development of person supported skills, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Where applicable, offer people financial support and guidance during their transition to adulthood and independence.
- Develop persons supported life management and independent living skills.
- Support people to be healthy and well in every aspect of their lives.
- Support people to achieve their educational, training or employment options.
- Promote persons supported participation in the community and that they are actively involved in the decision making of their day to day environment and activities.
- Depending on grade level, provide On Call Responsibility.
- Work as part of a team to meet the needs of people.
- Contribute to team meetings and handover meetings, ensuring all relevant information is shared with staff in line with confidentiality, adult protection, data protection and information sharing agreements.
- Complete and maintain accurate, concise, and up to date administrative records and documents as required by the service.
- Participate in relevant supervision and training programmes as required by the company and be responsive to personal and service development.
- Have an up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and best practice.
- Work in partnership and develop professional positive working relationships with colleagues, persons supported, statutory agencies and other professionals.
- Promote teamwork by devising effective shift plans for the team to work towards.
- Comply with Health & Safety and Equal Opportunity & Diversity Requirements at all times and report any unsafe practices and conditions.
- Any other reasonable management instruction.

- Full manual driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes; our support often takes us into the community and to young people's homes.
