SEMH Teaching Assistants – Supply roles in Stockport and surrounding areas, starting ASAP. These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEMH Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings in Stockport and the surrounding areas. You will work with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, supporting their learning and well-being in a range of classroom environments.
Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help manage behaviour and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Encourage independence and social interaction among pupils
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs (school or care setting)
- Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
