Overview
We are looking for a warm and enthusiastic Reception Year Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school on a long-term temporary contract. This is a wonderful opportunity to support children as they begin their school journey and to help them develop a love of learning. Beginning as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help pupils develop early literacy, numeracy and social skills.
- Assist with planning and setting up engaging, play-based learning activities.
- Observe and record children’s progress, sharing feedback with the teacher and parents/carers.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment, following safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
Ideal qualifications
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years/Childcare qualification (or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience working with children aged 4–5 in a school or nursery setting is desirable.
- A nurturing, patient approach and excellent communication skills as a Reception Year Teaching Assistant.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and the EYFS framework.
