Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual support plans
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to help pupils access learning
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist with personal care and sensory needs where required
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews and target setting
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Has recent experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a primary school setting
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management and a calm, empathetic approach
- Is confident working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
- Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Has a clear Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one
