SEMH Teaching Assistant Full-time, long-term temporary starting ASAP with potential to go permanent. This is an excellent opportunity for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a primary PRU that provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school focuses on helping pupils re-engage with learning through personalised support and a strong emphasis on emotional well-being. Staff work collaboratively to create a calm and structured setting where every child can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist teachers in implementing behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans
  • Use de-escalation techniques and maintain a calm, positive approach in challenging situations
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing practices across the school

Ideal Candidate

  • Level 2 Team Teach certification is essential
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs in a school or PRU setting
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
