We are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Bury and the surrounding areas. These flexible opportunities are ideal for support staff who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You’ll be helping pupils with a range of special educational needs to access learning and thrive in inclusive environments.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with a range of special educational needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings
- Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Help create a structured and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with the SENCO and other support staff to implement individual education plans
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff
- Support pupils during transitions and break times
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and inclusive practices
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Resilient, patient and empathetic approach
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology or youth work (desirable)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
