Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in classroom and small group settings
  • Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to ensure inclusive learning
  • Provide one-to-one support where required and help pupils engage with learning activities
  • Uphold safeguarding and welfare standards at all times

Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs is desirable
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional support strategies
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain a calm, supportive approach

  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check or have one registered on the Update Service
