Are you a Graduate who has a keen interest in supporting students with Special Educational Needs?

Would you like to gain experience in a classroom working with SEN students before fully committing to a teacher training programme?

Step into Teaching have a great opportunity to spend a full academic year as a graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant working in a wonderful Secondary School based in Swindon. The school creates a happy and secure learning environment where all students’ needs are met and where achievements along with successes are recognised and praised.

All staff are highly ambitious; therefore, the headteacher is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting their students and ensure every student reaches their full potential by having high expectations for all., * Attend to pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes (must be comfortable taking both girls and boys to the toilet)

  • Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities

  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration

  • Have the highest expectation that every student will make sustained academic and personal progress

  • Ensure that every pupil is ready for the next steps in their learning and is supported to participate and contribute to

  • Hold/Predicted a degree (2:2 or above)

  • Previous experience working with young people with learning difficulties (preferred but not essential)

  • Be passionate about supporting children with their learning

  • Be enthusiastic, friendly and confident

  • Have a commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities

  • Must be able to relate well to young people and adults and have some understanding of the range of needs of young people with learning difficulties

  • Be able to work effectively in a team

  • £450 – £490 weekly – term time only!

  • Secondary School based in Swindon (20 minutes from Cirencester)

  • Full time role (Monday – Friday) for the full academic year

  • Start ASAP until July 2025

  • Gain classroom experience first before training to become a teacher
