Graduate Teaching Assistant – Specialist Education

Looking for a rewarding graduate role where you can make a real difference?

We are looking for graduates to join specialist school settings in Derby, supporting children and young people with additional needs.

This is a particularly rewarding role and could be a great fit for graduates with an interest in SEN, psychology, education, therapy, social care or teaching.

You don't need previous SEN experience. What's most important is that you're patient, caring, resilient and genuinely want to support young people.

The role will involve:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils access their learning
• Supporting communication and social development
• Building confidence and independence
• Encouraging positive behaviour
• Working closely with teachers and support staff
• Creating a safe and supportive environment for pupils

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a degree – this is essential
• Be caring, patient and empathetic
• Have excellent communication skills
• Be confident working as part of a team
• Be calm and consistent
• Have a genuine interest in supporting young people
• Have previous SEN experience (desirable, but not essential)
• Have a driving licence (desirable but not essential)

Full support will be provided, making this a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a specialist education setting.
