Teaching Assistant – Junior School

Salary: £100+ per day
Start Date: October / November 2026
Full-time | Term-time
Are you passionate about supporting children and looking for your next opportunity within a junior school in Derby?
We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school environment, working alongside teachers to help pupils get the most from their education.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has experience working with children, although we are also happy to consider graduates who have gained relevant experience through placements, volunteering or other roles.
The Role
Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:
- Supporting pupils with their learning and development
- Working with individuals and small groups
- Providing additional support to pupils who may need it
- Helping pupils stay engaged and focused during lessons
- Supporting the class teacher with classroom activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and independence
- Building strong and positive relationships with pupils
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and enjoyable learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Degree educated
- Passionate about working with children
- Patient, caring and approachable
- Confident working as part of a team
- Reliable and committed
- A strong communicator
- Previous experience working in a school or with children would be a bonus
- A driving licence would be great but is not essential
This is a great opportunity to gain further experience within a junior school and become part of a supportive school team.
