At Step into Learning, we’re seeking a passionate and dynamic Functional Skills Tutor who is eager to make a lasting impact on young learners aged 16+. In this role, you’ll be more than just a teacher—you’ll be a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration as you help learners achieve their English and Maths qualifications up to Level 2. Your mission will be to empower individuals, promote confidence, and make education an engaging and supportive experience for all.
As the landscape of education evolves, so does this exciting role. You’ll have the chance to shape the future of Functional Skills delivery, aligning your lessons with the updated 2025–2026 curriculum requirements. With a minimum of 100 teaching hours per subject annually, you’ll design and deliver impactful lessons that inspire learners to take ownership of their education. Working closely with the core tutor, you will ensure that study plans for the upcoming academic year are fully aligned with the latest educational mandates, preparing learners for their next steps in life and learning.

Requirements
- L2 Maths & English
- Minimum of two years teaching/coaching/training experience
- A working knowledge (or willingness to work towards this) of adaptive teaching practices
- A commitment to student-centred learning
- Effective oral and written communication, numeracy and interpersonal qualifications & skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners alike
- Active listening skills
- An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities policies and practices
