Finance Specialist | International Manufacturing | Manchester | Up to £60,000

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Are you a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working across a broad range of responsibilities and collaborating with colleagues in different countries?
An established global manufacturer in the construction machinery sector is looking for a Finance Specialist to join its Manchester finance team. You’ll support the UK operation across day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and compliance, while working closely with UK colleagues and an internationally based Finance Leader.

The role
- Support month-end and year-end accounting, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Prepare and analyse profit and loss reports, balance sheets, cash flow reports and management information
- Investigate variances and unusual transactions, and communicate your findings clearly
- Complete bank reconciliations and other general accounting activities
- Process supplier invoices, payment requests, employee expenses and reimbursements
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, following up on outstanding items
- Support UK VAT returns and other financial and tax reporting requirements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and monitoring expenditure against budget
- Prepare accurate financial information for UK management and international headquarters
- Work with colleagues across Finance, Sales, HR, Procurement, Logistics and Operations
- Help improve finance processes, procedures and internal controls
- Support finance projects and system improvements as the UK operation develops
About you
- Solid practical experience in a broad, hands-on finance or accounting role
- Experience working within an international business or group, including exposure to cross-border finance activity or reporting
- Good working knowledge of UK accounting practices, VAT and financial controls
- Experience with month-end reporting, reconciliations, journals and accruals
- Confidence working across areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and cash flow
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues
- A proactive approach and the ability to work well as part of a finance team
Experience in construction machinery, manufacturing, engineering, automotive, distribution or another industrial sector would be an advantage. A specific degree or accounting qualification is not required if you have strong relevant experience.
