As our Marine Superintendent, DPA & CSO you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our vessels run safely, securely, and efficiently every day. Acting as the vital link between ship and shore, you will influence how we work, support our crews, and drive continuous improvement across our fleet. Some of your key responsibilities:

  • Act as Company Security Officer (CSO), overseeing vessel and company security arrangements in accordance with the ISPS Code.
  • Monitor and support safe, efficient marine operations across the Irish Sea fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international, flag state, and class regulations.
  • Support and contribute to audits, inspections, and technical reviews across the fleet.
  • Lead or support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust follow-up actions are implemented.
  • Contribute to crisis management and emergency response activities when required.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture, encouraging reporting and continuous improvement across vessels and shore teams.
  • Work collaboratively with ship management, technical teams, and senior stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient operations.
  • Adapt to a varied and evolving remit, taking on additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Designated Person Ashore (DPA) in line with MSC MEPC.7/Circ.6.
  • Certification as a Company Security Officer (CSO) in accordance with MSC.
  • Right to live and work in the UK and Ireland.
  • Business-level proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations, including ISM and ISPS Codes.
  • Experience within RoRo and/or RoPax operations is highly advantageous.
  • ISM Lead Auditor qualification would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in crisis management and accident/incident investigation.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A demonstrable commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel regularly and be on-call when required.
  • Based within a commutable distance of a Stena Line office in the UK or Ireland.
