Some of the duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

The HSE Manager advises Management on all matters pertaining to quality, health, safety and the environment, and manages the day-to-day operations of the HSE department.

  • Ensure operations are being carried out in compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist in developing effective HSE performance goals and objectives to support best in class performance within the industry.
  • Lead and facilitate the development, maintenance, review, and continuous improvement of the Company’s Management System.
  • Promote HSE communication throughout the Company in order to promote organisational awareness of HSE issues.
  • Plan and implement HSE programmes and promotional activities to improve HSE awareness and performance.
  • Monitor the implementation of training programmes to ensure appropriate HSE training is provided for relevant functions within the Company.
  • Support the development, maintenance and review of vessel Safety Cases and supporting documentation.
  • Develop, maintain and implement an annual onshore and offshore audit programme.
  • Monitor compliance with the audit program and provide regular status update to senior management.
  • Appraisal of existing and prospective vendor/subcontractor QHSE performance.
  • Maintain relevant HSE certification.
  • Liaise with Clients to ensure that HSE standards are acceptable and correctly interfaced.
  • Act as focal point for medical issues within the company.
  • Communicate with representatives of regulatory bodies to clarify and resolve compliance issues.
  • Monitor rig HSE committee meetings, following up on recommendations, the sharing of lessons learned and updating the SMS as required.
  • Participate in investigation and review of incidents as required in order to determine direct and underlying causes and make recommendations to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Develop systems for communicating the lessons learned from incidents across the fleet.
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging legislation and regulatory issues. Communicate to relevant departments as required.
  • Monitoring and review of emergency response plans and resources. Ensure emergency response drills are carried out on a routine basis (minimum one per annum) with lessons learned captured and procedures updated as required.
  • Report on HSE performance, analyse trends, and communicate statistical information as necessary. Upon the identification of incident trends responsible for the development of action plans and reporting to senior management.
  • Liaise between medical topside provider and Stena drilling medical personnel. Act as the primary focal point for medical matters in Aberdeen.
  • Assist with business development activities including the preparation of tender documentation.
  • Conduct rig visits.
  • Review ORA’s ensuring they have appropriate and sufficient mitigations.
  • Review Presight data on a daily basis and promptly address overdue or failed target items.
  • Act as Deputy Company Security Officer (CSO) for the company.
  • Any other duties as required by Chief Operations Officer.

Suitable applicants should ideally have:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Significant previous experience within the oil and gas industry including:
  • Previous departmental management experience.
  • Knowledge of drilling operations and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of UK offshore legislation and international safety standards.
