Excellent junior level opportunity within the biomethane production and anaerobic digestion management space to assist the R&D Strategist.
PURPOSE OF JOB: This role will work with the R&D Strategist to support the delivery of a range of agricultural field trials, focusing on decarbonising and improving the sustainability of arable crops grown for anaerobic digestion. Specifically, the role will help with setting up, monitoring, data collection, data entry, and statistical analysis of these trials. Additionally, the role will carry out desk-based research into relevant R&D being carried out by third parties (e.g. universities, consultancies, research institutes, etc.) and identify key potential partners and external collaborations. The role will also carry out short literature reviews on specific subjects, as identified by the team.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION:
- Reports to R&D Strategist.
- Frequent contact internally with Feedstock and Business Development Teams and other relevant departments within the company.
- Frequent contact externally with consultancies, universities, commercial research projects, authors of published research and other external stakeholders.
SCOPE OF JOB:
- To support the set-up, monitoring, and data collection of multiple agricultural field trials. These trials will focus on testing methods to promote longer-term decarbonisation of our farming and procurement of bioenergy crops.
- To carry out desk-based research, including literature reviews on specific subject areas and writing short reports of findings.
- To conduct statistical analysis of data collected from field trials.
- To liaise closely with different departments in the business and external organisations to help develop and refine trial plans and communicate results. Internal reporting of findings, including occasional meetings, short presentations etc.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS LEVEL:
- Degree level or above, with a strong emphasis on research in environmental sciences or agriculture.
- Experience in finding relevant information, literature reviews, and interpretation of peer-reviewed research, reports and data. High level of attention to detail.
- Experience with experimental design, hypothesis-driven research, and data collection.
- Relevant experience in writing, presentations, summarising findings, and dissemination of information in appropriate formats for a broad range of audiences.
- Excellent communication skills encouraging engagement, knowledge transfer and teamwork.
- IT literate with an understanding of MS Office, Excel, Teams and SharePoint, with knowledge of data analysis software and citation programs desirable.
- Role will be office-based in Guildford (~3 days per week), but with frequent travel to trials sites in Norfolk and Doncaster. Being happy to travel is essential; UK driving license and access to a car would be highly desirable.
