About the Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a procurement professional from the engineering or manufacturing sector who is looking to progress their career within a growing, forward-thinking business. Key Responsibilities
- Order Processing: Processing stock and project orders utilizing electronic requisition software and Bills of Materials (BOM) provided by the engineering team.
- Supplier Management: Sourcing quotes, placing orders, chasing lead times, and negotiating to reduce costs and lead times wherever possible.
- Inventory Control: Collaborating daily with the stores team, running expediting and stock shortfall reports, and maintaining stock accuracy using the ERP system (Sage 200).
- Relationship Building: Maintaining strong relationships with the existing supplier network while actively identifying new supplier opportunities.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Attending weekly and monthly meetings to provide accurate procurement updates on project lead times; working closely with the accounts team to swiftly resolve supplier queries.
- Ad-hoc Administration: Assisting with daily admin tasks such as filing, scanning, and archiving.
Skills and Experience Required
- Technical Procurement: Proven experience working in a technical buying role within the engineering or manufacturing sector is essential.
- Systems: A strong working knowledge of Sage 200 Accounts (or a similar ERP system) is essential.
- IT Literacy: High competency in the Microsoft Office package, particularly Excel.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively managing and negotiating with suppliers.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight project deadlines.
- Industry Knowledge (Desirable): Previous experience or knowledge of Electrical Switchgear or Electrical Manufacturing is highly advantageous.
- Qualifications (Desirable): A CIPS qualification at any level is preferred but not essential.
