The Opportunity
STEM Recruitment Solutions are delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a well-established business based in Glasgow, as they continue an ambitious period of growth. We are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong credit control experience who is ready to take ownership of a portfolio of strategic clients while also leading and supporting a small team. The business has ambitious long-term growth plans and is committed to investing in its people, processes and future development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage credit control across a portfolio of strategic clients
- Lead, support and motivate a small team of Credit Controllers
- Manage and prioritise high-value outstanding debts
- Achieve agreed credit control and management KPIs
- Maintain excellent customer relationships through professional and effective communication
- Lead the resolution of customer queries and account disputes
- Chase missed, short or promised payments
- Manage and raise Letters Before Action (LBAs)
- Manage and chase Writ proceedings
- Run customer payment reminders
- Post and allocate cash daily
- Chase and apply customer remittances
- Maintain accurate debtor records and communications
- Manage the legal section of the Debtor Tracker
- Follow established Credit Control procedures
- Contribute to process improvements designed to reduce debtor days
- Support the wider Finance function in maintaining a strong cash position
About You
We're looking for an experienced Credit Controller with at least three years' experience in a Senior Credit Controller, Lead Credit Controller or similar position. You'll be confident managing your own workload, dealing with high-value accounts and communicating effectively with customers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Senior or Lead Credit Control position
- Experience managing or mentoring a small team
- A proven track record of improving debtor days and credit control processes
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills
- Experience using CreditSafe
- Experience working with finance systems, ideally those with a collections module
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping
- Confidence dealing with escalated queries and payment issues
- Experience managing legal credit control processes would be advantageous
- Experience within the security or construction sectors would be desirable, but is not essential
