Infrastructure Manager (Servers)

North Leeds (Hybrid)

Salary £60k – £70k + 10% Bonus

This role is ideally suited to an experienced hardware and infrastructure/network engineer with some leadership experience who it looking to make the move into a management position, but maintain some technical hands on for a while yet.

As part of our service delivery our installs team deploy at least 1 HPe server on a customer site. This server is built automatically using an automated inhouse developed process called Deployview. The goal of this automation is to allow our install teams to deliver consistent, secured and functioning service equipment to customer sites to get it installed reliably and swiftly every time. These servers are shipped globally, usually built in two locations (Leeds and New York) but are sometimes built further afield in hard to ship countries like India and China.

This equipment calls home to our data centres, allowing us to monitor and manage, and in most cases replicated the protected data back to our data centre for DR services.

Supporting this DR environment, customers often have equipment, physical or virtual hosted in our Data Centre. This team also supports this equipment.

The role will involve owning the product roadmap for Deployview, responding to issues during the build process, supporting the install teams, responding to deviations in the supply chain for our servers and keeping the equipment out on customer sites uniform, secure, up to date and supportable.

It will also involve supporting our customers colo environments and working closely with our dedicated support team to resolve any issues with customer kit, performance, connectivity etc that support are unable to fix.

Reporting to the CSO, you will also need to be involved in aspects of management reporting and managing the flow of tickets / tasks within the team.

KEY RESPONSILBITIES AND TASKS:

Duties may include, but are not restricted to the following:

  • Responding to tickets, troubleshooting build issues
  • Performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Client side Firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting
  • On site hardware diagnosis and remediation
  • Automation of updates
  • Ownership of the Deployview Roadmap
  • Ownership of the customer server BOMs
  • Reporting on KPIs to SLT and the Board

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; tactful, diplomatic and sympathetic when dealing with any customer problems and showing empathy with customer issues.

  • Experience in troubleshooting technical problems in a methodical manner arriving promptly at a solid conclusion.

DESIRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Technical problem troubleshooting
