The predicted salary is between 29250 - 35750 Β£ per year.
Location: Warrington - Hybrid. 2-3 days per week in the office. It is expected to be based in the office full time during the first 2 weeks.

About our client and the role:
Our client is a fast-growing financial services provider who put their colleagues and customers at the heart of everything they do. They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Portfolio BTL and Commercial Underwriter to join their established underwriting team, in either Hertfordshire or Cheshire.
You will assess new lending applications for commercial and residential mortgages for professional landlords, to evaluate quality, credit risk, and compliance with the lending policies and risk appetite. You will prepare clear and concise lending summaries, approving applications within your delegated authority or making well-reasoned recommendations to the Head of Underwriting, Director of Credit & Underwriting, or the Credit Committee.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research, analysis, and assessment of individual lending applications, identifying key risks and making informed lending decisions or recommendations.
- Identify any exceptions to the Bank's lending policies or guidance, providing clear recommendations and appropriate remedial actions where required.
- Support post-sanction administration activities, ensuring all processes are completed accurately, promptly, and in accordance with the Bank's policies, procedures, and management information (MI) requirements.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy and accountability for all data entered and records maintained.
- Contribute to strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance the Bank's performance, governance, and control environment.
- Consistently demonstrate the Bank's values and behaviours, acting as a positive ambassador for the organisation.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the Business Development Team, providing expert support and fostering effective collaboration.
- Support the day-to-day credit operations of the Bank, ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of the annual lending objectives while maintaining strong credit quality and prudent risk management.
- Promote full compliance with Anti-Money Laundering, Treating Customers Fairly, and Customer Conduct and Outcomes standards, delivering an exceptional customer experience reflected in positive customer feedback.
- Champion the strategy, values, and culture of the company, embedding these principles in relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to support sustainable business growth and performance.
Experience and skills required:
- Must have held a lending mandate/Delegated Authority sanctioning mandate
- Proven experience of underwriting commercial and residential property investment loans to small and medium sized businesses.
- Experience of underwriting commercial owner-occupier (and OpCo / PropCo) deals and a good understanding of balance sheet lending is preferable.
- Ability to work within tight time constraints.
- Ability to develop and manage relationships at key levels in the business.
- Good team working, organisational and administration skills.
