About the position:

We're partnering with a specialist mortgage lender that is bringing its mortgage servicing and operational finance function in-house. As a result, they are looking for a qualified or part-qualified Operational Finance Manager with a background in loan management or mortgage servicing. This is a new internal function with no existing framework, meaning you will be the first hire into the area and will need to act as a self-starter and will be building the function from the ground up. The role is highly hands-on covering daily reconciliations, mortgage cash management, ETB reporting, funder reporting packs, and audit support, while also taking ownership of designing and embedding the processes, controls, and reporting structure for the future. You will be working closely with funding partners and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and strong financial governance across all reporting.

The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, process-minded, and open to using tools to improve efficiency and insight, while maintaining strong control and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of mortgage cash management and daily reconciliations as part of a new in-house operational finance function.
  • Manage BAU activities, including ETB reporting, funder reporting packs, and audit support.
  • Ensure accuracy and control across all financial reporting, working closely with funding partners and external stakeholders.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences, maintaining strong financial governance and audit trails.
  • Help design, embed, and improve processes, controls, and reporting frameworks for a newly created function.
  • Operate in a standalone capacity.
  • Support the build-out of the function while balancing day-to-day operational delivery in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to improvements in efficiency, including the use of tools and technology to enhance reporting and analysis.

Experience and skills required:

  • Experience in operational finance, loan servicing, or a mortgage lending environment.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage servicing cashflows and reconciliations.
  • Structured finance experience (e.g. SPVs, warehouse facilities, RMBS) desirable.
  • ACCA/ACA qualified, part-qualified, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • High attention to detail with strong numerical and control focus.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable approach with a focus on process improvement and efficiency (including use of technology/AI desirable).
