Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop a comprehensive project plan specifically tailored to Data Lifecycle Management, outlining tasks for identifying, isolating, and removing customer data from legacy and cloud platforms. Execute project plans effectively, ensuring that data deletion and anonymization activities are completed on time and within stringent Data Protection compliance windows. Monitor progress of technical data workflows and make adjustments as necessary to ensure project success without impacting operational uptime.
- Stakeholder Management: Identify and engage with all relevant stakeholders, including Data Protection Officers (DPOs), Legal/Compliance teams, IT infrastructure leads, and external data vendors. Communicate project goals, specifically focusing on the progress of Right to Erasure (RTBF) requests and data hygiene milestones. Manage stakeholder expectations regarding data retention policies and address any technical concerns regarding data integrity during the removal process.
- Risk Management and Data Controls: Identify potential risks regarding data leakage, unauthorized access, or non-compliance during the customer data removal process. Develop and oversee Data Protection controls and risk mitigation strategies to ensure all data handling aligns with GDPR and organizational security standards. Proactively manage issues related to data dependencies or complex database schemas that may hinder effective data purging.
- Reporting and Documentation: Generate regular progress reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements in data footprint reduction and compliance audit readiness. Maintain thorough documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including Data Processing Impact Assessments (DPIAs), audit trails for deleted records, and updated data flow diagrams.
Experience
- Data Project Specialisation: Proven experience leading projects focused on Data Privacy, Data Protection controls, and Data Migration/Deletion.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of GDPR requirements, specifically regarding data retention, Right to Erasure, and Privacy by Design.
- Track Record of Delivery: Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects involving the removal of sensitive information from multi-tier platforms.
- Excellent Stakeholder Management: Ability to bridge the gap between technical IT teams and legal/compliance departments.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Adept at navigating complex data architectures to ensure clean and compliant data removal.
- Leadership: Capable of steering cross-functional teams toward high-stakes compliance deadlines.
- Change Management Expertise: Experience managing the cultural and operational shifts required for rigorous data protection governance.
