Overview
Steer’s Feasibility Design practice is seeking to expand our successful traffic modelling offer through recruitment of a modeller to join our London-based team to deliver a broad portfolio of projects.
The traffic modelling role will primarily involve leading the development microsimulation and local traffic models, providing technical expertise and advice to clients and colleagues and contributing to the future growth of the business. Our Feasibility Design team work together to help clients deliver some of the highest profile transport and development projects in the UK and overseas. This includes supporting clients to deliver multi-modal highway schemes in relation to projects as diverse as Liveable Neighbourhoods, Wembley Stadium event cap mitigation, Canary Wharf development and active travel and bus corridors across London and Manchester.
The models you produce will feed into the development of sustainable, multi-modal highways solutions and so an awareness of such design considerations would also be an advantage. You will have the opportunity to support a range of projects such as bus priority and cycle improvement schemes which will range from feasibility to detailed design stages. You will also support the team by providing analysis relating to operation of mixed use developments on aspects as wide ranging as pedestrian comfort levels, servicing capacity and traffic management requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of microsimulation and local traffic models and provide technical expertise to clients and colleagues.
- Support a broad portfolio of projects across liveable neighbourhoods, major developments, and transport schemes in London and Manchester.
- Contribute to the future growth of the Feasibility Design practice and the wider business.
- Support the team on projects from feasibility to detailed design stages, including bus priority and cycle improvement schemes.
- Provide analysis relating to operation of mixed-use developments, pedestrian comfort, servicing capacity and traffic management requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience with LinSig and Vissim (or other microsimulation software).
- Experience of TfL’s Model Audit Process would be beneficial.
- Working knowledge of traffic modelling standards and guidance.
- Ability to manage sub-consultants and support staff on a project basis and deliver key tasks.
- Ability to prepare and present reports, proposals, briefing notes and design reports.
- Ability to manage project budgets and exercise effective financial and budgetary control.
- Willingness to participate in training to develop technical and consultancy skills.
- Be comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to resolving complex design problems.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Hold relevant academic qualifications or professional experience.

Compensation
Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, liveable wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account.
In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward.
Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.
Work Environment
