About The Role
Do you have a passionate interest in mobility around sports and major events, strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset? Do you enjoy working with teams across different sectors to plan and deliver successful transport strategies that will have a positive impact?
As a specialist in our Sports and Major Events team, you will be joining a growing team providing advice to a wide range of private and public-sector clients and helping deliver some of the most challenging operational plans. Your role will be highly rewarding as you will help to ensure that the plans are safe, inclusive, accessible to all and provide an enhanced spectator experience for thousands of people.
At Steer we have been supporting our clients by delivering specialist consultancy services across transport, cities and infrastructure. You will work as part of a team providing solutions to both private and public sector clients. This position requires an enthusiastic, hard-working person, who wants to be part of our growing, dynamic team and in this role, tasks are likely to include:
- Client and stakeholder liaison to understand requirements for Sports & Major Events projects
- Provision of high quality operational / design advice to clients
- Leading work streams within projects with supervision, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently
- Preparing and presenting reports, proposals, briefing notes and transport planning documentation
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams to prepare effective plans and documentation
- Manage project budgets exercising effective financial and budgetary control
- Delivery of excellent joined-up and high-profile development and event projects in the UK, which contributes to the company\'s reputation for delivering excellence
- Taking responsibility to deliver key tasks with a range of projects
- Contributing to the production and delivery of proposals and marketing materials related to our market area from time to time
- Assisting in general business development initiatives
- Taking part in training to develop both your technical and consultancy skills
To be successful in the role, you will:
- Demonstrate a good track record of delivering major events work
- Be comfortable working in creative multi-disciplinary teams and provide positive contributions
- Take responsibility for key tasks and workstreams, managing multiple deadlines in parallel
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven project management/delivery experience in a transport and major events environment.

Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, liveable wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account.
In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward.
Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.
Work Environment
All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are encouraged to spend 40% of their time either in office or on-site with clients. An employee\'s typical work week consists of 40 hours (Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be adjusted for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity.)
