We are seeking a CAD Technician to support our Building Design and Sports & Major Events (SME) teams, delivering high-quality drawings across the full project lifecycle. The role will involve producing technical CAD outputs to support highways design, car park and servicing layouts, and pedestrian routing for major developments and events, across RIBA Stages 1–7. Our Design team work together to help clients deliver some of the highest profile transport and development projects in the UK and overseas. This includes supporting clients to deliver multi-modal highway schemes in relation to projects as diverse as Liveable Neighbourhoods, Wembley Stadium and other stadia, Stanstead Airport, Canary Wharf development and active travel and bus corridors across London and Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and well-coordinated CAD drawings to support building design, highways, and major events projects.
- Prepare drawings across RIBA Stages 1–7, from feasibility through to construction and operational layouts.
- Develop Chapter 8 Temporary Traffic Management drawings in accordance with relevant standards.
- Undertake vehicle tracking to inform access, servicing, and highway design.
- Prepare layouts including:
- Internal service yards
- Car parks and access arrangements
- Waste storage and collection areas
- Cycle parking facilities
Requirements
You will work as part of a team providing CAD and design solutions to both private and public sector clients. This position requires an enthusiastic, hard-working person, who wants to be part of our growing, dynamic team and in this role, you will be required to:
- Be proficient in AutoCAD (essential).
- Have experience with vehicle tracking software (essential).
- Have working knowledge of the Traffic Signs Manual and TSRGD (essential).
- Have some experience with Revit (desirable).
- Have some experience with KeySign (desirable).
- Have previous experience in highways design.
- Have experience in car park and access design.
- Have exposure to logistics or servicing operations (desirable but not essential).
To be successful in the role, you will:
- Be comfortable working under supervision to deliver defined CAD and design tasks to meet internal and external timescales.
- Demonstrate excellent CAD skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
- Hold relevant academic qualifications or professional experience.

Compensation
Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, liveable wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account. In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward. Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.
