Steer Staffing are currently recruiting reliable and professional Class 1 (C+E) Drivers for ongoing, temporary to permanent agency work. This role involves working in a fast-paced logistics environment, ensuring safe and compliant delivery operations. Drivers must be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism at all times.
Job Duties
- Complete assigned deliveries and collections in a safe and timely manner
- Operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles in line with all UK and EU driving regulations
- Adhere to tachograph rules and Working Time Directive at all times
- Carry out vehicle checks and report any defects appropriately
- Follow all site-specific Health & Safety procedures
- Accurately complete required paperwork and shift documentation
- Download digital tachograph card at the start and end of each shift
- Clock in and out appropriately where required
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when representing the business
- Remain flexible to complete shifts and additional hours in line with legal requirements
Requirements
- Minimum age: 21 years old
- At least 6 months experience driving Class 1 (C+E) vehicles in the UK
- Valid C+E Driving Licence held for a minimum of 6 months
- Valid Driver CPC (DQC) card
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Maximum 6 penalty points (restrictions on specific offences apply)
- Must have been reference checked for the past 5 years
- Good level of spoken and written English
- Strong understanding of UK/EU driving legislation and working time rules
- Punctual, reliable, and able to carry out assigned duties effectively
Health & Safety
- Must wear appropriate PPE at all times (safety boots, hi-vis vest/jacket, gloves)
- Comply with all Health & Safety regulations on-site
- Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others
- Follow all operational and site-specific procedures
Security & Compliance
- Must declare any criminal convictions (in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)
- Must carry Driving Licence and CPC card while on duty
- No unauthorised stops during routes (breaks must comply with legal requirements)
- Full compliance with transport legislation and driver hours regulations is essential
Pay Rates
- Days: £17.60 rising to £18.10 after 12 weeks
- Nights: £18.48 rising to £19.01 after 12 weeks
- Saturday: £18.92 rising to £19.46 after 12 weeks
- Sunday: £19.36 rising to £19.91 after 12 weeks
