The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.
You will join a highly skilled rail team providing industry-leading advice to national and regional governments, private rail companies, investors, and industry bodies. Our work covers a broad range of technical disciplines, including business case development, strategic planning, rail operations, demand and revenue forecasting, commercial analysis, and project assurance.
With a strong pipeline of high-profile opportunities, we are expanding the team and are looking for people who are passionate about applying and extending their skills and who enjoy collaborating with others to provide excellent advice to clients.
What we'd like from you:
- Essential
- Understanding of the GB Rail industry.
- Extensive experience of applying best practice rail industry analytical skills, including one or more of the following: commercial (revenue and costs), strategic planning, operations, business case and appraisal, programme delivery, and technical assurance.
- An inquisitive, proactive and forward-thinking approach to understanding and addressing client needs.
- Ability to specify, review and critically challenge analytical methodologies which are consistent with industry best practice and deliver value to clients.
- Experience of managing project teams and making technical and commercial decisions to deliver high quality and commercially successful projects.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team to deliver high quality and commercially successful projects.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and experience of successfully tailoring the communication of complex analysis for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent numerical skills including proficiency in analytical and modelling software (e.g. Excel).
- Desirable
- Experience in a range of techniques for analysing and interpreting information from multiple sources to build an evidence base to underpin technical reporting, presentations and advice.
- Aptitude to continually strengthen existing capabilities and develop new skillsets.
- Experience of working on international railways projects.
- Proficiency in database programming.
- Ability to coach and develop junior team members.
- Demonstrable contribution to improving technical approaches to delivering work.
- Experience of supporting bid development and work winning.
- Ability to develop new relationships through proactive profile raising and other business development activities.

Compensation
Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fair, liveable wage. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account. In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward. Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.
Work Environment
All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are encouraged to spend 60% of their time either in the office or on-site with clients. An employee’s typical work week consists of 37.5 hours. Hours, expectations, and exemption status will be adjusted for any applicant seeking a part-time opportunity.
