We are now seeking an exceptional Learning & Talent Development Manager to join our People Team in a pivotal leadership role, partnering with senior operational leaders and driving a high-impact people strategy across the region.

The Role

The Learning & Talent Development Manager is the lead specialist for learning, talent, and organisational development at Steer Automotive Group. The role owns the design, delivery and continuous improvement of learning programmes across the Group, manages the Learning Management System and builds the frameworks that identify, develop and retain talent across the business.

The postholder is a credible, hands-on practitioner who is equally comfortable designing strategic frameworks and personally facilitating training programmes. They play a central role in equipping managers and colleagues with the skills needed to deliver, building career pathways and succession plans that sustain the talent pipeline and working closely with HRBPs and the wider People Function to keep learning and talent activity aligned to business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Design & Delivery

  • Design, develop and deliver engaging learning programmes for colleagues at all levels, including induction and management development.
  • Create and curate blended learning content (face-to-face, virtual, e-learning, on-the-job resources) that is accessible to a largely non-digital, site-based workforce.
  • Facilitate training workshops and programmes directly, including management and leadership development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning interventions using appropriate measures and continuously improve provision based on learner and business feedback.
  • Partner with operational leaders and HRBPs to identify training needs and develop targeted solutions aligned to business priorities.
Learning Management System & Compliance Training
  • Own and manage the Group's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring it is fit for purpose, well-maintained and effectively used across all sites.
  • Oversee the delivery of mandatory and e-learning programmes (e.g. health & safety, data protection, equality & diversity), monitoring completion rates and escalating where necessary.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure consistent LMS adoption across the Group, including for colleagues without regular digital access.
  • Produce regular learning analytics and completion reports for the Group Head of HR and other stakeholders, identifying trends and areas of risk.
  • Source, evaluate and manage relationships with external e-learning content providers and LMS vendors as required.

Talent Development & Succession Planning

  • Work closely with the Group Head of HR to design and implement a talent management framework, including talent identification, assessment, and development planning.
  • Support the design and delivery of succession planning processes for key roles and leadership pipelines across the Group.
  • Develop career pathways and progression frameworks that create clear development routes for colleagues.
  • Design and run talent review and calibration processes, facilitating conversations with senior leaders and providing relevant data and insight.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and career development, embedding this in the colleague experience from day one.
    Leadership & Management Development
  • Lead the design and ongoing delivery of management development programmes, equipping people managers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead effectively.
  • Design and develop a management induction programme for newly appointed managers.
  • Support the rollout and evolution of existing leadership development initiatives, including the Group's 'Drive to Lead' management development programme.
  • Identify and manage relationships with external development providers, coaches, and facilitators where appropriate.

Workforce Planning Input

  • Contribute to workforce planning discussions by providing insight on skills gaps, capability trends and development needs across the business.
  • Support the Group Head of HR in building workforce planning frameworks that account for emerging capability requirements and technical upskilling agenda.
  • Work with HRBPs to develop site-level training needs analyses and translate outputs into Group-wide learning priorities.

People Function Collaboration

  • Work as an integral member of the wider People Function, collaborating closely with HRBPs and the Group Head of HR to align learning and talent activity with the broader HR strategy.
  • Support people-related projects and programmes as required, including policy development, engagement initiatives and HRIM implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of HR communications and colleague engagement materials where relevant to learning and development.

Any Other Duties

  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the business from time to time, commensurate with the seniority and scope of this role
