At Steer Automotive Group, we’re committed to delivering high-quality repairs and keeping vehicles safely on the road. We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Windscreen Technician to join our team at Steer Commercial in Heathrow, providing professional windscreen fitting and replacement services across a range of commercial vehicles.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving work both at our site and at customer locations. You’ll work on everything from vans to larger and high-sided commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Fitting, removing and replacing windscreens and associated glass on a range of commercial vehicles, including larger and high-sided vehicles.
- Carrying out mobile work at customer and company locations, assessing damage and determining the appropriate repair or replacement solution.
- Working safely at height where required, using appropriate access equipment and following all Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, stock and the mobile vehicle in a safe and serviceable condition, while completing job records accurately.
- Driving company vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and supporting the wider operation with vehicle movements and other operational requirements during quieter periods.
- Providing a professional and helpful service to customers, drivers and colleagues.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in windscreen fitting, vehicle glass replacement or a similar automotive role, ideally with experience working on commercial vehicles.
- Good practical and technical knowledge, with a strong focus on quality, safety and attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence with entitlement to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
- Ability to work safely at height and follow appropriate working-at-height procedures.
- Ability to work independently on mobile jobs while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- IMI or NVQ Level 2, PASMA qualification, or experience with high-sided commercial vehicles.
