Steelway Brickhouse, based in West Bromwich, is a key division of the business, producing precision‑engineered access covers & frames for use across the Water, Sewer, Telecommunications, Power, Rail, Domestic, Industrial, & Commercial markets – using mild steel, stainless steel, & aluminium.

About The Role

We are looking for an organised, proactive, & hands‑on Team Leader to support daily operations across our Laser, Press, Fabrication & Assembly departments.

Reporting to the Shopfloor Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering production outputs, maintaining high standards, coordinating workflow, and supporting continuous improvement.

You will be a point of guidance for your team — ensuring priorities are met, targets are achieved, and a safe, efficient working environment is upheld, while taking a hands‑on, practical approach to leading by example.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional to take on a leadership role within a respected and growing business.

Hours

Monday – Wednesday, 14:00 – 00:00 & Thursday, 14:00 – 23:00 (39 hours per week, site‑based)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver day‑to‑day production requirements within the Laser, Press, Fabrication & Assembly departments
  • Participate in practical work to support production output & quality
  • Work closely with the Operations team to understand & meet manufacturing targets
  • Liaise with Supply Chain, Distribution & Despatch to ensure priorities are aligned & completed
  • Monitor sub‑assembly stocks & consumables, raising order requirements as needed
  • Record outputs & relevant KPIs daily using company systems
  • Lead, motivate & support a team comprising 6 members—managing performance, standards & punctuality
  • Assist with induction, training & development of employees in line with business requirements
  • Uphold safe working practices & proactively identify improvement opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations
  • Undertake additional reasonable tasks as required by the business
  • Additional Team Leader Responsibilities
  • Fire marshall
  • First aider
  • Health & safety representative
  • Deputise for shopfloor supervisor as required
  • Cover for other team leaders as required & ensure effective communication
  • Key Skills & Experience
  • Experience within manufacturing – essential (ideally within the steel industry)
  • Previous experience operating laser cutting machines, welding fabrication or press brake
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise & coordinate workflow
  • Confident communicator able to work effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate & coach a team
  • Good understanding of production targets, output planning & performance management
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace and following established procedures
  • Previous exposure to Steelway Brickhouse products (or similar) would be advantageous
