The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
To control the firing processes in all their aspects including technical, mechanical, electrical and practical areas. This is in order to produce consistent quality products efficiently and economically.
Principal Accountabilities
- Design and implementation of firing schedules, kiln furniture.
- Maintain records and readings of all instruments for each throughput speed.
- Make instruments available for calibration as required by the quality manual.
- Co-operate with the Clay End managers with the design of refractory profile setters and maintain the quality and stocks of these.
- Co-operate and liaise with all factory managers to ensure quality in production is maintained.
- Address all matters of health and safety instruction in close liaison with the QESH and HR departments.
- Carry out reviews of processes, methods and technology.
- Review and investigate new developments in technology and products for possible introduction at Steelite International.
- Record complaints or problems arising along with any solutions, keeping them on file for a minimum period of 3 years.
- Work closely with the Laboratory/QA team in producing routine samples and trials and their monitoring.
- Maintain kiln log books for tractability of the processed product and any problems should a quality issue arise.
- Keep records of the technical aspects of kiln firing and their monitoring for a period of 3 years.
- Ensure that all production targets are met, as set by the Kiln Manager/Manufacturing Director.
- Source the most efficient and economical route of ware/product through kiln processes and reroute as appropriate to ensure efficiencies are met.
- Responsible for the management of all kiln personnel in all aspects, with the support of the Kiln Manager as appropriate.
- Provide 24-hour support and cover for all kilns on site.
- Cover for the Kiln Manager during holidays and absences as appropriate.
Hours
- Days: Monday to Friday 6:00 pm - 14:00 pm
- Noons: Monday to Friday 14:00 pm - 22:00 pm
- Nights: Monday to Friday 22:00 pm - 6:00 am
- 1 in 4 weekends on call
