Steele Charles are delighted to be representing a leading multi-national food manufacturing business supplying chilled, high-risk, and high-care products to major UK retailers. Operating from a high-specification facility in West London, the site is fully accredited to BRCGS standards and committed to delivering the highest levels of food safety, quality, and service.

Our client is seeking a proactive and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to support the day-to-day management of warehouse operations on a high-care food production site. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the successful candidate will oversee a team of warehouse operatives across a shift pattern that includes late evenings (up to 1am), ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of materials and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise warehouse operatives to ensure all inbound, outbound, and internal movements of stock are completed safely and on time.
  • Uphold BRCGS and internal standards in all warehouse activities, especially in high-care and chilled zones.
  • Monitor team performance, provide on-the-floor coaching, and ensure adherence to GMP, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate stock handling practices, including real-time scanning, traceability, segregation, and allergen control.
  • Ensure smooth handovers between shifts and clear communication with production, planning, and logistics functions.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with SOPs, 5S, and safe systems of work.
  • Support audits (internal, BRCGS, and customer) with documentation and operational readiness.
  • Report issues and escalate problems to the Warehouse Manager in a timely manner.
  • Encourage a positive and productive team environment, leading by example in all aspects of warehouse work.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in a warehouse or logistics supervisory role within chilled or high-care food manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of BRCGS, GMP, and food safety requirements in a warehouse environment.
  • Confident team leader with a hands-on approach and strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible to work late evening shifts (up to 1am) and adapt to the demands of a fast-paced operation.
  • Knowledge of stock control systems (WMS/ERP) and scanning technology preferred.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of HACCP and allergen management desirable.
  • Basic Health & Safety awareness; a qualification (e.g., IOSH) is a plus.
