About Steel City Interactive
SCI was born out of passion for video games and boxing, with the ambition to create an authentic and exciting boxing game that does justice to the sport we love. What started as a fun prototype has grown into ‘Undisputed’, the first major boxing video game in over a decade.

The Role
We are currently recruiting for a UX Designer, who will be responsible for designing and creating intuitive game flow and user interfaces. As a highly passionate and creative person you will be pivotal in crafting exceptional and captivating user experiences to the player.
You’ll work closely with other disciplines to ensure that the UX features deliver in both quality and to the games vision.
You’ll be a passionate and level-headed designer who will be proactive and will always be thinking about the player experience. You’ll gather feedback and action it where required. Always asking the question, how can the player experience be improved.
You’ll also feel right at home with creating full screen mock-ups and flow diagrams to be able to prove out your designs and methodology.
Responsibilities
- Help shape an enjoyable, engaging and consistent player experience.
- Taking original wireframe mock-ups, create clear and understandable UX flows and UI screen designs. From layout to prototyping, with rapid iteration to a high-quality level.
- Design and refine the user experiences. Ensure complex game mechanics and flows are simplified and understandable.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure game functionality is accurately represented and meets the design requirements whilst detailed information is not lost and can be easily understood by the player.
- Use critical thinking skills to analyse feedback and action any required changes.
- Ensure a consistent language and style throughout all screens.
- Create and champion style and layout guidelines that will inform all screen layouts within the project.
- Create and manage flow testing, whilst collating and acting on feedback.
- Work with the data team to identify and evaluate the impact of UX designs and find solutions to complex problems.
- Write clear and concise design documentation, ensuring that it is always kept up to date.
- Collaborating with other designers and the game director to ensure that you are delivering features that surprise and delight our players.
- Be the focal point of UX design within the team.
- Assess and communicate issues and risk within reasonable timescales.
- Have a keen eye for quality, identifying areas that could be improved, ensuring the game is meeting the highest standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years in the games industry as a UX Designer.
- Shipped at least one game, where you were heavily involved in UX design. Preferably console or PC.
- Expert in using UX flow, design software and art packages such as Figma and Adobe Suite/Photoshop.
- Strong prototyping skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Be able to justify the design decision to a wide range of skill levels within the team.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of good practice and responsive design principles.
- Strong in visual design skills, such as layout, composition, typography, colour theory, illustration and iconography.
- Knowledge of Unreal 5 UMG and implementation.
