About Steel City Interactive

SCI was born out of passion for video games and boxing, with the ambition to create an authentic and exciting boxing game that does justice to the sport we love. What started as a fun prototype has grown into ‘Undisputed’, the first major boxing video game in over a decade.

SCI is a welcoming place for expression and open communication, where everyone has a voice. We’re a diverse bunch, consisting of people with decades of games industry experience, graduates and talented individuals who come from other industries. We all bring knowledge and learn from each other.

Together we are driven by ambition to bring the world of boxing into a video game like never before.

The Role

We are looking for a Head of Brand Marketing to lead our internal marketing and community team, while working closely with our external publisher, Plaion. This role is pivotal in making Undisputed—the first major boxing video franchise in over a decade—the cornerstone of boxing.

The game launched on October 24 and this role is responsible for:

  1. Partnering with our publisher to develop and execute the ongoing marketing strategy.
  2. Aligning internal teams around a clear vision and positioning for each DLC release, ensuring the right supporting materials are created on time, and to quality.
  3. Championing the needs of our community to ensure that all planning and execution are grounded in a deep understanding of our players.

If you are a brand marketing leader with a deep understanding of community engagement and social strategy, we’d love to hear from you. A passion for boxing is a plus but not essential.

This role reports to the Studio Lead and manages a Community team, Social Media Manager, Video Editor, and Marketing Executive. The successful candidate will also work closely with the development team, the licensing team and the external PR and Event teams.

Responsibilities

Publisher & Asset Management

  1. Serve as the primary marketing liaison with Plaion, collaborating on strategy, campaign execution, and asset development.
  2. Bring the development team, marketing team, and publisher together to determine the right content, positioning, and assets for all upcoming DLC and feature updates.
  3. Manage the creation and distribution of brand assets (video, static, website, merch, etc.), ensuring high-quality output.
  4. Oversee the Undisputed website, ensuring it aligns with brand goals and player expectations.

Community-Centric Brand Strategy

  1. Develop and execute brand strategies that prioritize community engagement and player-centric experiences across multiple platforms (social media, Discord, 1st party platforms, in-game events, content creation, etc.).
  2. Lead the community team to foster strong relationships with players, tracking their sentiment and engagement – and ensuring they are able to feedback through tools such as beta testing and surveys.
  3. Oversee the Social Media Manager to develop and execute compelling social media, content, and creator strategies to increase awareness and drive engagement with the game.
  4. Lead the team to build and manage relationships with influencers, streamers, and content creators to increase brand visibility and player engagement.

Leadership, Collaboration and Partner Relations

  1. Lead and mentor a cross-functional team (Community Managers, Social Media Specialists, Content Creators, and Marketing Execs).
  2. Partner with internal development teams to align marketing and community initiatives with product goals.
  3. Work closely with SCI’s external PR and event management partners to ensure they can deliver against their goals, in line with the overarching marketing strategy.
  4. Work closely with SCI’s global licensing team to support their new and ongoing relationships with fighters.
  5. Engage with external partners, including professional boxers, brand partners (e.g., WBC, Riyadh Season), and our publisher (Plaion).

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  1. 5-10 years of experience in brand marketing and/or community management within the gaming industry.
  2. Strong understanding of community engagement strategies.
  3. Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to guide and develop a team.
  4. Collaborative and positive mindset.
  5. Experience managing budgets.
  6. Excellent communication and writing skills, with high attention to detail.
  7. Experience developing creative briefs, managing asset development, and overseeing content creation.
  8. Sports gaming experience is a plus, as is knowledge of boxing.
