Steeev is a digital platform where Initial Wedge focuses on enabling men to have low-friction ways to create friendships from the start. There is a global loneliness epidemic, but we can't deal with the whole world at once, so we're starting with UK males initially in London aged 30 to 65. The platform enables them to join or host micro meets, which are one-to-one or one-to-few based around shared interests, and then we nudge those people into good friendship behaviour, which enables them to nurture and build those friendships.
30% of people in the UK two weeks ago spent zero hours socialising. This is not only an issue for them but it's an issue for wider society. It's one that costs the UK economy 2.5 billion a year. You don't have to be alone to be lonely; it's just not having the right people to do the right things when you want to do them. As the digital world increases, people actually become more isolated. Every day, social interactions through the workplace or pubs, sports clubs, or churches have massively diminished, and this loss of third space means what was once natural is now not happening. We're changing that, and you can help us and help men to have a richer, fuller, happier life, to be better sons, partners, husbands, dads, colleagues, and members of society.
Role Description: The Head of Marketing at Steeev is an equity-only, remote role responsible for leading all marketing efforts to grow brand awareness, user acquisition, and engagement. We appreciate that you need to earn money. While we're working on equity only, we'd also be working on this on a part-time basis and have no set expectations of hours per week put into it. We'd hope that by using AI wherever practical, we can achieve big results on a shoestring. That won't be forever, but hey, it's the reality of a bootstrap startup. We are just entering an active fundraising round which should change this picture significantly.
We'd expect the right candidate to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in, but you wouldn't be alone. The CEO has over 20 years of marketing experience, which means a clear understanding of strategy, what's actually required, and what realistic results actually look like won't be a daily battle. The GTM includes D2C and B2B2C as well as Strategic Partnerships. We're already working with academic partners at London's South Bank University and senior professionals from the health sector. Our aim is to evidence the benefits to the users, which opens up wider markets both in the UK and overseas. The product is live and now in public beta, and we are hosting 30 activation events in London over the coming months.
This is a blank slate. Exciting creativity and ideas, however wild, are more welcome than somebody saying 'post at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning as it gets 4% more engagement'. You can be the wild crazy ideas one, and our CEO will be the pragmatic realist. So this is an opportunity to make your mark, create something very special, and have a positive impact on the world.
Responsibilities: Tasks include developing and executing marketing plans, defining positioning and messaging, and overseeing campaigns across digital channels and partnerships. The role involves conducting market research to understand user needs, segment audiences, and refine go-to-market strategies, while closely collaborating with product and community teams to ensure alignment. The Head of Marketing will build and manage the marketing funnel, track performance metrics, and optimize initiatives for growth and retention. This role also includes shaping Steeev’s public image, managing PR opportunities, and supporting sales-related activities such as partnerships and sponsorships.
Qualifications: Strong marketing leadership experience, including Marketing Management and Market Planning skills. Ability to conduct and apply Market Research to guide strategy, positioning, and user growth. Background in growth-focused roles, with experience in building and managing acquisition funnels. Public Relations skills, including media outreach, brand storytelling, and reputation management. Proven experience in early-stage startups or equity-only roles, comfortable operating in a lean environment. Demonstrated success in digital marketing and growth strategies, especially for consumer or community-driven platforms. Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Once again, this is equity only. No one here is taking a salary, we will but not yet.
