We are building a new healthcare clearinghouse. In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.
Stedi is the world's only programmable healthcare clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional realâtime and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange missionâcritical transactions. Our clearinghouse product and customerâfirst approach have set us apart. Stedi was ranked as Ramp's #3 fastestâgrowing SaaS vendor.
As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join our engineering team to build our healthcare APIs and extend existing systems.
How We BuildWe use AWS exclusively for our customerâfacing backend infrastructure. We use tools like GitHub, Stripe, and PagerDuty, but all of our application work happens on AWS. We use serverless technologies almost exclusively: Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Aurora Serverless, and more. We donât run a single server. We use CDK (TypeScript) to define infrastructure as code. We write the majority of our API backends and EDI parsing engine in Rust.
What Youâll Do- Design and develop complex, largeâscale web applications and APIs.
- Work closely with AWS to improve our understanding and use of their services.
- Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and rigor through both coding and writing highâquality, effective communication.
- Build the highest quality, broadestâreaching commercial trading network at the lowest possible price for our customers.
- 4+ years of coding experience; previous work in Rust and TypeScript is beneficial.
- 4+ years working with AWS services.
- Committed to working with AWS serverless offerings in a production environment.
- Ability to prioritize your work based on the needs of the business and the customers.
- High bandwidth; thoughtful attention to many areas simultaneously.
- Ability to context switch throughout the course of the day or week as priorities shift.
- Philosophical alignment with the Stedi Standards.
At Stedi, weâre looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. Youâre encouraged to apply even if your experience doesnât perfectly match the job description.
