This is a pivotal role with broad influence across manufacturing, supply chain, contract administration and operational performance, directly supporting the company’s growth strategy and long-term ambitions.
We are looking for a commercially astute, high-impact leader who combines strategic perspective with operational rigour — someone who can optimise performance, strengthen capability, and build a culture of excellence.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Managing Director, you will hold end-to-end accountability for operational and manufacturing performance. You will ensure Steatite’s operations are efficient, scalable, and aligned with customer and business requirements while driving sustainable improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
Your remit will include:
- Setting and executing operational and manufacturing strategy
- Reviewing and revising as necessary roles and responsibilities of team members
- Carrying out gap analysis on skills, experience and resources
- Reviewing existing processes and procedures and revising to reflect group ambition for sustained growth
- Leading production, planning, and delivery performance across both sites
- Driving operational excellence, efficiency, and margin improvement
- Strategic oversight of supply chain, procurement, and logistics
- Ownership of operational budgets, capital investment, and cost control
- Embedding data-driven performance management through KPIs and ERP/MRP systems
- Developing high-performing teams and future leaders
- Strengthening a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Acting as a senior representative of operations with customers, suppliers, and partners both internal and external
The Candidate
You will be a proven operational leader with deep experience in manufacturing environments and a track record of delivering measurable business impact.
We are seeking:
- Significant operational experience in a manufacturing business, ideally in an engineering environment.
- Strong expertise in manufacturing processes, supply chain, and quality systems
- Familiar with low to medium scale production environments
- Demonstrated success in performance transformation and cost optimisation
- Experience leading continuous improvement programmes (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent)
- Commercial and financial acumen, including budget and margin management
- A leadership style that inspires accountability, engagement, and high performance
- Credibility and presence to influence stakeholders at all levels
- AI aware in context of ERP solutions and best practices
Relevant qualifications are advantageous but secondary to leadership capability and delivery.
Why Steatite?
