The Role
Steatite is seeking a skilled and motivated Production Technician to join our Manufacturing team in Ashchurch.
Working within a specialist engineering environment, you will assemble, configure and test electrical and computer‑based products used in demanding defence, transport, industrial and security applications.
This is a hands‑on role requiring a high level of accuracy, technical aptitude and attention to detail, ensuring products are manufactured and tested to the highest quality standards.
You will work as part of a collaborative production team, supporting the delivery of innovative products whilst maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, configure and test electrical and computer‑based products.
- Carry out mechanical assembly in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate production, test and quality records.
- Identify, investigate and report technical issues where required.
- Ensure products meet customer, quality and engineering standards.
- Follow manufacturing procedures and engineering documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.
- Work flexibly across different production areas to support business requirements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Understanding of computer hardware components.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to undertake practical, hands‑on assembly work.
- Strong communication and team working skills.
- Physically capable of carrying out production activities where required.
Desirable
- Experience of cable assembly, wiring harnesses and looms.
- Soldering experience to J-STD standards.
- Awareness of or certification in IPC‑610 and IPC‑620.
- Good understanding of mechanical assembly techniques and engineering standards.
