Make safety more than a policy. Help make it part of how we work.
At Steatite, we design and manufacture specialist technology and engineering solutions for some of the world\'s most demanding environments. Our operations bring together skilled people, advanced technologies and complex manufacturing processes, making health, safety and environmental performance fundamental to everything we do.
We are looking for a proactive, hands‑on Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to help us maintain safe, compliant and continuously improving workplaces. Predominantly site‑based, you will also have opportunities to support HSE activities across our wider Group operations. Reporting to the HSE Manager and working closely with our engineering, manufacturing, operational and site leadership teams, providing practical advice, challenging existing practices where necessary and helping to embed a positive safety culture.
This is a varied and influential position for someone who enjoys being visible within the business, building relationships and turning HSE requirements into practical, sustainable improvements.
What You Will Be Doing
You\'ll combine day‑to‑day operational support with compliance, risk management and continuous improvement activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Promoting a positive safety culture: Working with operational teams and management to encourage safe behaviours, shared accountability and proactive risk management.
- Ensuring compliance: Supporting adherence to UK health, safety and environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Managing workplace risks: Conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and internal audits, identifying hazards and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Investigating incidents: Supporting accident, incident and near‑miss investigations, identifying root causes and recommending effective preventative measures.
- Supporting management systems: Contributing to the maintenance and continuous improvement of HSE procedures, documentation and ISO management systems.
- Monitoring performance: Reviewing HSE data, identifying trends and supporting initiatives that improve safety and environmental performance.
- Engaging and educating colleagues: Delivering toolbox talks, supporting HSE training and helping employees understand their responsibilities.
- Driving improvements: Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM)-related HSE activities and working collaboratively to develop practical solutions to operational challenges.
- Supporting Group operations: Providing HSE guidance and assistance across other locations when required.
What We Are Looking For
We are interested in hearing from HSE professionals who combine sound technical knowledge with a practical, approachable style and the confidence to engage with people at all levels.
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Previous HSE experience within an engineering, manufacturing, production or workshop environment.
- Good working knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and its practical application.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations.
- Ability to identify hazards, recommend improvements and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage and influence operational teams and management.
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Willingness to work predominantly on-site in Leominster and travel to other Group locations as required.
- Supporting HSE activities across multiple operational sites.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Preparing for or supporting internal and external HSE audits.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety training or employee engagement initiatives.
- Understanding environmental management systems and compliance requirements.
We are looking for someone who doesn\'t simply identify risks but works collaboratively to resolve them, challenges constructively and helps make safe working practices part of everyday operations.

If you\'re a practical, enthusiastic HSE professional who enjoys working closely with people and making a positive impact, we would welcome your application.
