Overall Job Purpose
Responsibility to provide Reinsurance service and general support to the Reinsurance team.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- To assist the Head of Reinsurance and the Chief Underwriting Officer with data analytics on claims trends across claim categories, vessel types, and geographical locations.
- To assist the Reinsurance team with claims and premium declarations to reinsurers, premium payments, and claim recoveries.
- To assist with Pool claims declarations.
- To ensure that all correspondence and documentation, whether received or sent, assigned to the particular individual is promptly and correctly filed in accordance with the agreed working practices.
- Provide support in all Reinsurance matters as directed in accordance with Company procedures.
- Provide support to the Claims and Underwriting teams as required.
- To compose accurate and professional business correspondence.
- To respond to all telephone enquires promptly and courteously.
- To contribute to continuous development of Company procedures and systems.
- To carry out any other duties that are within the scope of personal skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
- To attend appropriate training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- The role will include pool data entry (both claim details and the issuance of recovery statements) using the Group’s Data Collection Portal and reconciliation reports (run from Business Objects) Reviewing claim recovery amounts and invoicing where necessary.
- Certain Ledger Keeper duties including making payments to other Clubs / Reinsurance Brokers and the allocation of incoming cash.
- Monthly statements of account upkeep and liaising with other P&I Club’s / Reinsurance Brokers with regards to the agreement of payment amounts. Attending International Group
- Meetings in respect of the Working Group to discuss enhancing the Groups Data Collection Portal.
- Systems to be used and to have training on, will be Business Objects, Coda (Accounts systems) SSM Reinsurance / Underwriting / Claims systems.
Person Specification
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is a requirement.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills across at all levels, both written and orally.
- Flexible team player and ability to work on own initiative but sufficient judgement to know when to refer to Manager.
- Good self-motivation and ability to be adaptable to a changing environment.
- Proactive outlook in setting and prioritising work and meeting deadlines.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft (Including Excel)
