Overall Job Purpose: To provide P&I claims handling services and advice within the Americas Syndicate, supporting Members based in North America and worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain relationships between the Club and existing Members.
- Handle assigned claims according to company procedures, offering advice and identifying loss prevention opportunities.
- Manage a wide range of P&I issues and defence caseloads, including complex and high-value cases.
- Work independently, taking ownership of caseloads while seeking guidance when needed.
- Ensure electronic correspondence related to claims is promptly and correctly filed.
- Delegate work appropriately and support the development of Syndicate Assistants.
- Contribute to improving company procedures and systems.
- Create articles for Club publications.
- Support Syndicate Underwriting objectives.
- Perform other duties within your skills and scope as instructed.
- Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Undertake any additional ad hoc duties as required.
Person Specification:
- Experience in shipping litigation and dispute resolution, from P&I clubs, insurers, law firms, ship owners, or agents.
- Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and reporting.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
- Highly organized, motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic.
- Ability to deliver quality work within deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Proactive, with good initiative.
- Teamwork skills.
