Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You will be an early shaper of the design and architecture of the core platform, and work closely with the founding team to deliver 10x value to our clients.
As an early-stage startup, we pride ourselves on our ability to roll up our sleeves and build from scratch. We will be shipping code frequently and learning as we go while satisfying all critical security, performance, and uptime requirements for our clients.

As one of the first engineering hires, you’ll have the opportunity to shape both the product and the engineering culture. Responsibilities
– Design the core of OUR platform
– Build a robust, secure and resilient data ingestion layer
– Develop a performant scraping and parsing layer to capture data
– Deliver customer-facing APIs and developer-friendly documentation for a self-service product
– Impact and shape the engineering culture
– Continuously improve software engineering practices and processes
Qualifications
– Effective and self-driven builder
– 5+ years of experience building and owning a complete end-to-end technology stack (Backend, CI/CD, Logging, Monitoring, Alerting)
– 3+ years of Python familiarity
– Experience with Google Cloud Platform (or equivalent: AWS, Azure)
– Experience in designing customer-facing REST APIs and asynchronous architectures (e.g. queues, pub/sub, lambdas, webhooks)
– Strong experience with relational database modelling (using PostgreSQL or MySQL)
– Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
– Familiarity with software engineering best practices, such as DevOps, and CI/CD
– Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an agile environment
– Work authorisation in UK
It would be a plus if you have:
– Experience with low-level languages like C++, Rust or Go
– Experience writing web scrapers
– Experience developing and maintaining backends for complex processes
