We are seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to own the electronics and firmware platform for a next-generation continuous sensing device.
This is a highly hands-on role spanning electronic architecture, schematic and multilayer PCB design, embedded firmware, sensing and wireless integration, power optimisation, bring-up and verification. You will translate laboratory prototypes into compact, reliable hardware designed for continuous operation.
The central challenge is balancing power, signal integrity, reliability, cost and future scalability within a tightly constrained form factor. You will have significant ownership of component selection, technical trade-offs, development standards and the path towards manufacturable designs.
We are a stealth, venture-backed and grant-funded deep-tech company developing a proprietary photonic platform for continuous, multi-marker molecular sensing. We are backed by a leading European venture fund, experienced health-tech investors and strategic operators, alongside significant grant funding from the EU.
Today’s biochemical measurements provide isolated snapshots of dynamic biological processes. Our mission is to make these changes continuously measurable, transforming molecular data into timely, actionable insight.
Our platform brings the stability and multiplexing capabilities of advanced laboratory photonics into compact, scalable devices using miniaturised, low-cost and low-power electronics. We are initially applying the technology to health-focused applications, with the potential to reveal new insights into physiology, disease progression and treatment response.
As we move from core technology validation towards integrated product development, we are expanding a multidisciplinary team spanning molecular recognition, surface chemistry, biosensing, photonics, microfluidics and engineering.
For a candidate with deeper product-development experience, the role may also include setting the electronics roadmap, managing specialist design partners, mentoring future hires and contributing to intellectual-property and manufacturing strategy.
- Degree or equivalent industry experience in electronic or electrical engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience owning embedded hardware from architecture and schematic through PCB bring-up and validation.
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and microcontroller development, including drivers, peripherals and real-time debugging.
- Experience with low-power design, battery-powered systems and power-management architectures.
- Ability to integrate mixed-signal and sensing interfaces and troubleshoot effectively at system level.
- Ability to independently plan, execute and document complex engineering programmes.
- Wearable, medical-device, biosensor or optical-sensing products.
- Rigid-flex or flex PCB design, miniaturisation and dense component integration.
- BLE, Wi-Fi or USB connectivity and secure device communications.
- RTOS, bootloaders, over-the-air updates or secure embedded architectures.
- Design for manufacture and test, supplier management, pilot builds and production test.
- EMC pre-compliance, reliability testing or environmental qualification.
All applications and discussions will be handled confidentially.
Build the low-power electronics and firmware platform for a new generation of continuous sensing.
