We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Scala Developer to join a major UK public sector programme on a long-term contract. This is a fully remote opportunity offering the chance to lead development on large-scale, high-impact systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable applications using Scala
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
- Drive best practices across development, testing, and CI/CD
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical solutions
- Contribute to architecture and system design decisions
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience with Scala
- Proven experience in a Lead or Senior Developer role
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems
- Knowledge of Scala frameworks (eg, Akka, Play)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong understanding of DevOps tools and practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Essential Requirement:
Previous UK Government/Public Sector experience is essential
