Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product roadmap for one or more digital services.
  • Define product vision, goals, and measurable outcomes aligned to DWP priorities.
  • Gather and prioritise user requirements using data, analytics, and user research.
  • Work closely with Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Service Designers, Developers, and Architects.
  • Manage and refine the product backlog using Agile methodologies.
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, prioritisation, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
  • Ensure services meet Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and accessibility requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement using KPIs, service metrics, and user feedback.
  • Support discovery, alpha, beta, and live service phases.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and delivery blockers and help resolve them.
  • Contribute to governance, reporting, and product documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager within large-scale digital transformation programmes.
  • Experience working within UK Government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience managing digital products throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Ability to prioritise competing requirements and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar tooling.
  • Experience defining KPIs, OKRs, and service performance metrics.
